Description

Sisomycin Sulfate, also called as Sisomicin Sulfate, which is the sulfate salt form of sisomicin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic isolated from Micromonospora inyoensis. Sisomicin is strucurally similar to gentamicin but has a unique unsaturated diamino sugar. Of the aminoglycoside antibiotics, sisomicin has the greatest activity against gram-positive bacteria. Sisomycin Sulfate Usage And Synthesis

Uses antibacterial, binds to ribosomes
Therapeutic Function Antibiotic
Clinical Use Although Sisomycin Sulfate has been approved for human use in theUnited States, it has not been marketed in this country. Itsantibacterial potency and effectiveness against aminoglycoside-inactivating enzymes resemble those of gentamicin.Sisomicin also exhibits pharmacokinetics and pharmacologicalproperties similar to those of gentamicin.
Safety Profile Poison by intravenous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes. When heated to decomposition itemits very toxic fumes of SOx and NOx.
