Description
Sisomycin Sulfate, also called as Sisomicin Sulfate, which is the sulfate salt form of sisomicin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic isolated from Micromonospora inyoensis. Sisomicin is strucurally similar to gentamicin but has a unique unsaturated diamino sugar. Of the aminoglycoside antibiotics, sisomicin has the greatest activity against gram-positive bacteria. Sisomycin Sulfate Usage And Synthesis
Uses | antibacterial, binds to ribosomes |
Therapeutic Function | Antibiotic |
Clinical Use | Although Sisomycin Sulfate has been approved for human use in theUnited States, it has not been marketed in this country. Itsantibacterial potency and effectiveness against aminoglycoside-inactivating enzymes resemble those of gentamicin.Sisomicin also exhibits pharmacokinetics and pharmacologicalproperties similar to those of gentamicin. |
Safety Profile | Poison by intravenous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes. When heated to decomposition itemits very toxic fumes of SOx and NOx. |
