Description
What is Alanine?
Alanine (symbol Ala or A)[4] is an α-amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It contains an amine group and a carboxylic acid group, both attached to the central carbon atom which also carries a methyl group side chain. Consequently, its IUPAC systematic name is 2-aminopropanoic acid, and it is classified as a nonpolar, aliphatic α-amino acid.
Under biological conditions, it exists in its zwitterionic form with its amine group protonated (as −NH3+) and its carboxyl group deprotonated (as −CO2−). It is non-essential to humans as it can be synthesised metabolically and does not need to be present in the diet. It is encoded by all codons starting with GC (GCU, GCC, GCA, and GCG).

Alanine Benefits:
#1 – Enhances Athletic Performance and Time To Exhaustion
One of the primary and most common alanine benefits is its proven effectiveness for improving athletic performance, as well as building lean muscle.
#2 – Reduces Muscle Fatigue
Similarly to the previous alanine powder benefit, the amino acid has also been hailed for its advantages for HIIT training. On account of its ability to reduce the accumulation of hydrogen ions, beta-alanine is directly linked to greater physiological adaptations, such as reduced muscle fatigue and increased exercise capacity.
#3 – Improves Anaerobic Exercise Capacity and Power
alanine benefits include the widely researched improvement in anaerobic performance. Anaerobic exercises require short bursts of energy performed at maximum effort, an example of which is sprinting.
#4 – Improves Muscle Endurance
One of the primary researched topics regarding this amino acid is the alanine benefits for bodybuilding.
Heavy weight lifting is a form of anaerobic exercise, evidence suggests beta-alanine can help increase reps and sets during a resistance training session as a result of increased concentrations of carnosine in the muscles.
#5 – Beta-Alanine and Anti-Ageing
Research suggests alanine powder may help muscle tiredness and endurance in older adults by increasing carnosine levels which animal and test-tube studies indicate has antioxidant, anti-ageing and immune-enhancing properties.
