Description
What is Histidine?
Histidine is a semi-essential amino acid (children should obtain it from food) needed in humans for growth and tissue repair, Histidine is important for maintenance of myelin sheaths that protect nerve cells and is metabolized to the neurotransmitter histamine. Histamines play many roles in immunity, gastric secretion, and sexual functions. Histidine is also required for blood cell manufacture and protects tissues against damage caused by radiation and heavy metals.
L-histidine is the L-enantiomer of the amino acid histidine. It has a role as a nutraceutical, a micronutrient, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite, an Escherichia coli metabolite, a human metabolite, an algal metabolite and a mouse metabolite. It is a proteinogenic amino acid, a histidine and a L-alpha-amino acid. It is a conjugate base of a L-histidinium(1+). It is a conjugate acid of a L-histidinate(1-). It is an enantiomer of a D-histidine. It is a tautomer of a L-histidine zwitterion.

Histidine Uses
Histidine is an amino acid whose main function is to maintain the healthy development of various tissues of the body, especially the myelin sheath that wraps nerve cells, and to ensure that the brain’s information is transmitted to all parts of the body. It has a certain effect on the treatment of mental illness and certain types of sexual dysfunction.
The level of histidine in the body must be balanced to ensure a good mental state and physical health. Studies have shown that high levels of this amino acid are associated with mental disorders (such as anxiety and schizophrenia), while low levels of histidine are thought to help develop rheumatoid arthritis and deafness caused by nerve damage. For this reason, histidine supplements can help relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
Histidine is very important for maintaining normal sexual function because it is converted into histamine, a chemical required to stimulate sexual desire. Together with vitamin B3 (niacin) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), histidine can increase sexual pleasure by increasing the body’s histamine levels. Histamine helps the immune system to sense allergic reactions and promotes the production of gastric juice for normal digestion.
Studies have shown that the role of histidine also includes its use as a natural antidote, which can effectively prevent radiation damage and eliminate heavy metals from the system. It even helps prevent AIDS, because histidine is an essential element for the production of red blood cells and white blood cells.
